How to Keep Stink Bugs Away

So it’s that time of year again, the time of year where stink bugs are about to start invading your home. You’ve probably tried all sorts of things in the previous years, but nothing really worked that well so what are you going to do this year? Fortunately, there are many things you can do that you’ve probably not tried yet. This article will show you exactly how to get rid of stink bugs in the shortest amount of time possible without you having to do more than two hours of work yourself.

Stink bugs haven’t always been an issue, but for some reason stink bugs in Maryland exploded in population a few years ago and since then their numbers have grown significantly across the eastern United States. Luckily there are a few things you can do to prevent the invasion from hitting you house this year thus protecting you and your family form stink bugs.

The first thing you should do is to bring in all of the plants you can from outside. The stinkbugs will eat all these plants anyway, so don’t worry about them not being as healthy inside. For the plants you cannot bring inside, you will need to get some bug nets to put over them to prevent the stink bugs from reaching them. If you don’t’ the stink bugs will eat and kill these plants and will lay eggs on them as well.

Once you’ve taken care of the food source, you will need to turn off all you exterior lights at night. I know this will make your house and property seem dark and unattended, but stink bugs are attracted to artificial light and they will find your house at night if you don’t do this. You should also turn off as many inside lights as possible and shut all your blinds and curtains in your home to prevent any inside light from escaping outside where stink bugs can find it.
