Not About The
Buildings
Spelling
Bee

On June 21, 2010, thirty-six spellers convened at AS220
to compete for fame, honor, and fabulous prizes. After fourteen
rounds of competition, Nick Thomson was declared the winner.
Thomson, a Providence resident, is a culinary student at Johnson
& Wales University; presumably you can find now him at the
Providence Athenaeum, taking advantage of the membership he won.
The bee attracted dozens of spectators and single-handedly helped fund
the next six months of Not About The Buildings programming.
Thanks must once again go out to JP Reader, judge; Maureen Reddy,
dictionarian; Jason Tranchida, bookie; and Rachel Smith, banker.
Also big big big thanks to the Providence Athenaeum, Tiny Showcase, Craftland, and What Cheer? Antiques.
